To Feed as a Hand Rearing Food

Chicks should initially be rehydrated using an electrolyte solution. Prepare Granivore Rearing Mix by mixing well with pre-boiled warm water, in the following ratios:

    * Warm water at approx. 50°C

Let prepared mixture stand for 2 minutes to absorb all the water. Remix and feed at a temperature of 38-40°C with a spoon or syringe. Feed until the crop is full, taking care not to introduce food into the windpipe. Clean around the beak and face after each feed. Let the crop empty completely at least once a day by allowing an overnight fasting period of 6 hours. Thoroughly clean utensils and prepare food fresh for each meal.

Growth

Consistent weight gain is an indication of good health. Weigh chicks regularly to verify growth rate and determine if the amounts being fed are sufficient. Feed and growth charts for various species are available under Hand-Rearing.

To Feed as a Supplement

Use Granivore Rearing Mix as a supplement for breeding birds or for nutritional support for sick or malnourished birds:
